General Layout and Functional Design of Air Membrane Buildings

Like traditional buildings, every air membrane building needs to be fully designed before the project construction, including architecture, structure, water supply and drainage, HVAC, electrics and so on.

Xinyuan Air Dome’s main air membrane buildings belong to air-bearing membrane structure, which generally have a large volume, so the overall layout needs to be coordinated at the beginning of the design, taking into account the impact of light pollution, blocking sunshine and noise on the surrounding environment.

The design conception of air-bearing membrane structure should not only take into account the internal factors such as the use function, economic cost and aesthetics of the building, but also take into account the external factors such as topography, natural environment, historical and humanistic backgrounds, urban planning and other external factors of the geographic location where the building is situated.

Air-bearing membrane structure is mostly used in national fitness gymnasium and industrial bulk material storage warehouse, which generally have the following functional requirements: to meet the lighting function and ventilation function.

For the national fitness air membrane gymnasium, it must also meet the requirements of fresh air volume, temperature and humidity, and air cleanliness adapted to sports. For air membrane coal shed, it shall have the functions of coal dust suppression, gas emission and meet the production process of storing coal.

Due to its own characteristics, the air-bearing membrane structure is mostly a single large space inside the building, and the functional partition is relatively simple, and the principle of functional partition is: clear partition and convenient connection. At the same time, it is also necessary to arrange the location according to the actual use requirements and the sequential relationship of human flow activities.

In addition to dividing the overall large space of a gas membrane structure into several different functional areas, different functional areas can also be built with different gas-bearing membrane structures, and the various functional areas can be linked through reasonable traffic flow design.
