Is the air membrane easy to damaged?

For a long time, the impression of inflatable membrane buildings is that they are round, bulging, white and fat "big balloons". Compared with the "iron wall" made of steel and concrete in traditional buildings, inflatable membrane buildings’ appearance is soft and fragile, and the membrane materials seem to be easily damaged and destroyed.

Is this really the case?

In fact, the toughness and tensile properties of the membrane materials of inflatable membrane buildings are very superior. The tensile strength of medium-strength membrane materials is enough to match the commonly used building exterior steel plates. Moreover, when designers design air membrane buildings, they will consider the wind and snow load conditions and make rigorous calculations to enable them to withstand the huge pressure and destructiveness brought by strong winds and heavy snow. Therefore, under normal circumstances, excluding human factors, the membrane materials of air membrane buildings are difficult to break.

But difficult to break does not mean that it will not break. Air membranes are more afraid of being scratched or pierced by sharp objects. If the membrane surface is damaged, don't panic too much. Because the damage causes the indoor and outdoor air pressure difference to change, the intelligent control system will generate an alarm at the first time to remind technicians to evacuate personnel and repair the membrane.

The repair method of the air membrane is not complicated. We usually use two methods: for holes within 50 cm, they are usually repaired by heat sealing with a manual hot air gun; for damages over 50 cm, they can be fixed up and down with special aluminum splints for air membranes. These two methods can also be used in combination. Generally, the repair work can be completed in one hour. After the repair, the safety of the air membrane building will not be affected in any way.

Although the air membrane has high toughness, high strength and is not easy to break, it still needs to be maintained in daily use. During regular safety maintenance, staff should not bring any sharp objects to avoid damage to the membrane surface during climbing.
