Located in Shijiazhuang’s central medical district, the project covers an area of 10,930 square metres and is surrounded by hospitals, residential areas, schools and major urban thoroughfares, resulting in extremely restrictive construction conditions. The project faced four major technical challenges: forming a Z-shaped, multi-curved profile; anchoring a 20-centimetre-wide cantilevered eave; fabricating over a hundred pieces of irregularly shaped membrane material; and installing the structure in high winds under strong narrow-tube effects. It is one of the most complex air-supported membrane projects involving irregularly shaped excavation pits.

The Xinyuan Air-Supported Structure technical team successfully overcame these technical challenges through systematic solutions including 3D modelling, non-linear finite element form-finding calculations, post-anchoring rebar installation technology, and progressive inflation and hoisting. The project ultimately achieved outstanding results, with dust containment exceeding 90%, wind resistance up to Beaufort Scale 12, and a 30% reduction in construction time, with all indicators exceeding industry standards.
